FAQ
This section covers general frequently asked questions (FAQs) about our products and our company.
H&S Sensortechnik is an Austrian company based in Enzenkirchen and a sister company of H&S Kabeltechnik. The company specializes in the distribution of sensor and ignition technology, such as lambda sensors from Niterra and glow igniters from FKK Corporation, as well as other components for the heating industry. One area of focus is applications in biomass heating systems.
The range includes lambda sensors from Niterra, ceramic glow plugs from FKK Corporation, as well as broadband sensors, temperature sensors, safety temperature limiters and ignition blowers. Key products include the Niterra OZA685-WW1 lambda sensor and the FKK PSX series ceramic glow plugs.
Many products are designed for biomass heating systems, including pellet, wood chip and log-fired systems. Which component is suitable for a particular system depends on the type of system, the existing control system and the technical requirements. The respective applications are described in the product information.
Yes. The H&S Sensortechnik online shop is available to private customers as well as businesses and specialist firms. The products on offer in the shop can be ordered directly online.
Yes. H&S Sensortechnik can assist with any queries regarding product selection and compatibility. It is helpful to provide the type designation or part number of the existing component, as well as the manufacturer and model of the heating system. Please send your enquiry to office@hs-sensortechnik.at or contact us on +43 7762 43 705-0.
You can find technical information on the relevant product pages and in the downloads section of the H&S Sensortechnik website. Among other things, data sheets and product catalogues are available there. If you cannot find the information you need, we will be happy to help.
A lambda probe measures the residual oxygen in the flue gas. In the OZA685-WW1, a heated zirconium dioxide element generates a corresponding electrical voltage signal. The heating control system analyses this signal and can adjust the air supply to optimise the combustion process for different operating conditions.
The H&S item number 118.02-7100 refers to the original Niterra OZA685-WW1 lambda sensor for biomass heating systems. The manufacturer, Niterra, was previously known as NGK SPARK PLUG.
The OZA685-WW1 (H&S 118.02-7100) features a special ceramic material developed specifically for the low flue gas temperatures produced by wood combustion. This means the sensor is specifically tailored to the requirements of biomass heating systems.
No. Although the Niterra OZA685-WW1 uses components from the automotive industry, it was developed specifically for biomass heating systems and is not a standard automotive product.
Yes. The Niterra OZA685-WW1 (H&S item number 118.02-7100) is suitable as a replacement for the Bosch LSM 11 in biomass heating systems. When selecting a replacement, the connection type and the requirements of the respective heating system must be taken into account.
The OZA685-WW1 is designed for biomass heating systems fuelled by logs, wood chips or pellets. To check compatibility, it is helpful to have the model number of your existing sensor, the heating system manufacturer, the heating system model and the connection type. H&S Sensortechnik is available to assist you at office@hs-sensortechnik.at or on +43 7762 43 705-0.
Unreasonable readings, error messages or problems with combustion control may indicate a faulty lambda sensor. As there may be other possible causes, the sensor, its connections and the heating control system should be checked by a specialist firm before replacing it.
It is not possible to specify a universal cleaning interval for the OZA685-WW1. The degree of soiling and the heating system manufacturer’s maintenance guidelines are the determining factors. Loose dust deposits can be carefully removed from the outside using a soft, dry cloth. Under no circumstances should you use compressed air or a wire brush. Removal and cleaning must only be carried out when the system is switched off and has cooled down, and in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
No. The existing connecting cable with the white, four-pin plug can still be used, provided it fits the replacement sensor and both the cable and the connectors are undamaged.
Yes. H&S Sensortechnik offers lead wires, lambda transmitters, sockets and adaptors for the OZA685-WW1 lambda sensor. The components required depend on the heating system and the existing connection. We’d be happy to help you choose the right ones.
A ceramic igniter is an electric heating element used to ignite biomass fuels such as pellets or wood chips. By heating the fuel electrically, it reaches a high temperature and enables the fuel to be ignited in automated stoves, boilers and burners.
H&S Sensortechnik offers original ceramic igniters from the PSX series manufactured by the Japanese company FKK Corporation. These include the PSX-1-240-B, PSX-2-240-B, PSX-6-240-B and PSX-7-240-B models. These versions belong to the 300 W class and are designed for a supply voltage of 220 to 240 V AC.
The models differ in terms of design, mounting, dimensions and airflow. In the PSX-2 and PSX-7, air is channelled through the heating element. The PSX-1 and PSX-6 heat the surrounding air. The most suitable model depends on the design and technical requirements of the heating system.
PSX series FKK ceramic igniters reach temperatures of around 1,000 °C at the heating element and enable ignition within approximately 60 to 90 seconds. The actual temperature and ignition time depend, amongst other things, on the model, the heating system, the fuel and the air supply.
Ceramic is suitable for use in ceramic igniters due to its high temperature resistance and its electrical insulating properties. FKK ceramic glow plugs are also characterised by their resistance to oxidation and corrosion. They are designed to withstand the recurring thermal stress involved in igniting biomass fuels.
FKK ceramic glow igniters from the PSX series have been tested for up to 100,000 on/off cycles. This test result does not constitute a guaranteed service life in heating applications. The actual service life depends on the operating conditions and correct installation; it is therefore not possible to give a fixed figure in years across the board.
The easiest way to choose is by using the part number or model designation of your existing glow plug. You should also take into account the heating system manufacturer and model, as well as the design, mounting method, dimensions, voltage, power rating and connection type. H&S Sensortechnik can help you make the right choice at office@hs-sensortechnik.at or on +43 7762 43 705-0.
Use a genuine part compatible with your heating system, such as those supplied by H&S Sensortechnik. When replacing the igniter, ensure that the intended installation position and mounting method of the previous igniter are adhered to, as well as the heating manufacturer’s installation specifications. Correct positioning and an adequate air supply are essential for reliable operation and a long service life.
It is not usually necessary to clean the ceramic ignition element directly during normal operation. However, the ignition element must be kept free of pellet and ash residues. Please follow the heating manufacturer’s maintenance and cleaning instructions.
